PhD position in Pulsed Electric Fields and Ultrasound for food processing

Unizar has a 3-year PhD position available within the field of novel food processing technologies (Pulsed Electric Fields and Ultrasound).

Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to work in Novel Food Processing Technologies, with a special focus in Pulsed Electric Fields (PEF) and Ultrasound (US) and its use for improving mass and heat transfer processes in food products.

This 3-year PhD project is part of a large multinational research collaboration providing an opportunity to work with multiple overseas partners and undertake a six month stay in Nofima Stavanger (Norway).

The candidate will be part of the project “iNOBox: A Technology- and Market-driven Innovation e-Toolbox towards a Sustainable, Competitive and Science-based Agri-Food Industry in Norway”.

Where and when?

The work will mainly be carried out at University of Zaragoza, Spain and there will be a 6 month stay at Nofima in Stavanger, Norway.

The position is available from spring 2019.

Qualifications

The candidate should hold a degree in Food Technology, Food Engineering or similar, a MSc in the same field, and have interests in all the mentioned technologies. Knowledge in food microbiology, physicochemical analysis of food, statistics, and process modeling will be highly appreciated. Hands-on experience from laboratory is highly desirable.

The appointee must be able to work independently and as a member of a team, be creative and innovative. Good oral and written English is mandatory.
